White House Unwilling to Confirm Whether Terrorists Have Crossed the Southern Border

The White House has declined to confirm whether terrorists have crossed the southern border amid the ongoing border crisis and increased security concerns in the Middle East. During a press briefing, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was pressed by Fox News’ Peter Doocy about the potential terrorist threat to the United States, which FBI Director Christopher Wray had earlier described as reaching a “whole other level.”
Kirby initially avoided answering whether the White House had considered the possibility that terrorists may have already entered the country via the southern border. He acknowledged the ongoing concern about the presence of terrorists coming from overseas on U.S. soil.
It is true that the White House has not been able to provide a definitive answer to the question of whether terrorists have already crossed over the southern border. This is a complex issue with no easy answers, and there is no consensus among experts on the matter.

Doocy referred to a Customs and Border Protection bulletin, warning staff about the risk of foreign terrorist fighters involved in the Israel-Hamas conflict attempting to enter the U.S. through the southern border, which has been facing its own challenges. He asked if the White House had concerns about this, particularly given that there were around 600,000 known “got-aways” who had crossed into the U.S., meaning they were detected by Border Patrol agents but not apprehended.
Kirby refrained from directly addressing the intelligence report but emphasized that they continually monitor all ports of entry for potential threats to national security. He called on Congress to pass a supplemental border funding package requested by the Biden administration. Kirby assured that they take potential threats seriously, but he did not confirm whether someone with intentions of conducting a terror attack had already crossed the southern border.
Doocy pressed for a clear answer, asking whether it was possible that someone with terrorist intentions could have already crossed the border during a period of heightened threat. Kirby maintained that he couldn’t answer that question definitively and reiterated their vigilance in monitoring potential threats.
The issue of border security is a complex one, and there is no easy solution. The White House is taking steps to secure the border, but it is important to note that there is no guarantee that these steps will be successful.
