UK Poised to Offer Israel Military Help if Needed, Sunak Says

London, UK – Rishi Sunak, the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, has said that the UK is “poised” to offer Israel military help if needed, following recent attacks by Hamas.

Sunak made the comments during a meeting with the Israeli ambassador to the UK, Tzipi Hotovely.

“The UK stands with Israel at this time,” Sunak said. “We will do whatever it takes to help Israel defend itself against terrorism.”

“I am shocked by this morning’s attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli citizens. Israel has an absolute right to defend itself. We’re in contact with Israeli authorities, and British nationals in Israel should follow travel advice.” Rishi Sunak wrote on X

Sunak’s comments come as tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have escalated in recent weeks. Hamas militants have fired rockets into Israel, and the Israeli military has responded with airstrikes on Gaza.

The UK is ready to help Israel with military support if Israel asks for it. They are also considering bringing British citizens out of the areas that are affected by the situation because their safety is the most important thing.

Right now, Britain is not planning to arrange special flights to bring people back. However, they are thinking about the idea of evacuating people, but they haven’t decided yet. They believe there are around 50,000 to 60,000 people who are either British citizens or citizens of both the UK and another country in Israel and Gaza, according to the UK government.

The UK government has condemned the Hamas rocket attacks and has expressed support for Israel’s right to self-defense. However, the UK has also called for a ceasefire and has urged both sides to exercise restraint.
