G20 Summit 2023: US and EU Forge Deal for Mid-East India Rail Initiative

Saudi Arabia, the United States, and others have signed the Major Railway and Port Project to connect the Middle East with India and Europe. US officials said on Saturday: The US deputy National Security advisor, Jon Finer, said that the memorandum of understanding would explore shipping and rail transportation and enable the flow of commerce, energy, and data from here in India across the Middle East to Europe.

• Saudi Arabia and India are the key participants in the project, which will also include the United Arab Emirates and the European Union.

• The agreement is expected to boost trade and economic cooperation between the three regions, and its aim is to connect the Middle East, India, and Europe via a network of railways.
