Fighting has been raging in Gaza for a continuous 30 days since Hamas militants crossed into Israel. According to Israeli officials, this resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people, primarily civilians, with more than 240 others reported as abducted.
In response, Israel carried out relentless airstrikes and sent ground troops into the Gaza Strip.
The health ministry in Gaza, which is under the control of Hamas, reported that nearly 9,770 people have lost their lives in the conflict, with a majority of them being women and children.
An Israeli army spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, stated that the military had surrounded Gaza City in the northern part of the strip, effectively dividing the Palestinian territory into two parts.
