Israel-Hamas war: "India stand with Israel" Modi says

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for Israel during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This statement comes as both Israel and Gaza are experiencing ongoing violence following Israel’s conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

“Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.” PM Modi wrote on X on Oct 7

“I thank Prime Minister @netanyahu for his phone call and providing an update on the ongoing situation. People of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.” Narendra Modi Wrote on X on Oct 10

The tone of Modi is changed, In the previous statement he mentioned only about “terrorist attacks in Israel” but today he also said that “India stand firmly with Israel”

The conflict began when Hamas launched a surprise attack on parts of Israel, leading Israel to declare war on Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. Over 1,500 people have died in the war so far, and Israel claims to have regained control of its border from where Hamas infiltrators entered.

Israel’s airstrikes have heavily targeted Gaza City, which houses Hamas’ government centers, while Israel has witnessed gun battles in its streets. Parts of Gaza have been severely damaged, and Hamas has threatened to harm captured Israelis if civilian areas are attacked without warning.

Israel’s prime minister has vowed to retaliate against Hamas, and several countries, including India, the UK, the US, the European Union, France, Germany, and Italy, have pledged their support for Israel in this conflict. They believe Israel has the right, under international law, to defend itself against Hamas.
