
A powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on November 3, resulting in a tragic loss of at least 157 lives and leaving hundreds injured. In response to this crisis, India swiftly extended a helping hand to its neighboring nation, adhering to its ‘Neighbourhood First Policy.’
On November 5, an IAF C-17 Globemaster transported essential relief materials and medical aid to Nepal. These supplies included life-saving drugs and surgical items, aimed at assisting Nepal in its recovery from the devastating earthquake.
India’s prompt provision of humanitarian aid underlines its commitment to supporting Nepal during this challenging time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the disaster on November 4.
India Extends Support to Nepal After Devastating Earthquake
India has swiftly responded to the devastating earthquake that struck western Nepal on Friday, resulting in over 150 casualties and more than 160 injuries. India sent essential relief materials and medicines to aid the earthquake-affected people. The assistance was transported using a military aircraft from the Indian Air Force (IAF).
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted India’s commitment to providing emergency relief assistance to Nepal as a first responder. This act reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Neighbourhood First policy’ in action. The relief consignments were handed over to Nepalese authorities by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed their deep concern over the loss of lives and damage caused by the earthquake in Nepal. Modi assured Nepal of India’s solidarity and readiness to provide any possible assistance during this challenging time.
