Hostage Situation at Hamburg Airport Ends Peacefully
Nov 6, (Wya News):
A tense hostage situation at Hamburg airport has concluded with a peaceful resolution. The suspect and his daughter exited their vehicle, ending an 18-hour ordeal that had shut down northern Germany’s busiest airport.
The police reported that the suspect was arrested without resistance, and the child appeared unharmed. The incident began around 8 pm local time on Saturday when an armed man breached a security barrier and drove onto the tarmac. He fired two shots into the air and threw two burning bottles out of the vehicle.
At least two individuals, including a child, were in the car. The driver’s wife had made an emergency call, alerting the police about the abduction of her child.
The authorities indicated that a custody dispute might be the background to this operation.
On Sunday morning, a police spokesperson revealed that they had maintained good contact with the suspect throughout the ordeal. They considered the extended discussions as a positive sign.
The incident caused delays for approximately 3,200 airline passengers, according to local media reports.
