Historic Win: India Strikes Gold in Asian Games Final Against Sri Lanka

The Indian Cricket Team defeated the Sri Lankan team in the finals of the Asian Games and won the gold medal. India’s second gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China India won the toss and decided to bat first. Shafali Varma went out early, Smriti Mandhana scored 46 runs in 45 balls, and Jemimah Rodrigues scored 42 runs in 40 balls. They were given the best innings, and the pair scored a 73-run partnership for the second wicket.
- The Sri Lankan bowlers Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, and Inoka Ranaweera have picked up two wickets each, and India has scored 116 runs with seven wickets lost in 20 overs.
- Indian bowler Titas Sadhu was given a break throw with the double wicket maiden in the first over, and later she took the wicket of Captain Chamari Athapaththu, which helped in reducing the Sri Lankan score to just 15 for three wickets lost in five overs.
- Nilakshi de Silva and Hasini Perera have tried hard to push the Sri Lankan team towards victory, but they are not at the required run rate. Indian bowler Rajeshwari Gayakwad has broken the partnership with 2/20, and the Indian team has managed the game very comfortably.
- Sri Lanka has scored 97 runs with eight wickets lost in 20 overs, and India has won the gold medal with 19 runs.
- India’s second gold medal was in Hangzhou, and the Indian women’s cricket team has beaten the Sri Lankan players by 19 runs at the Asian Games 2023.
