New Delhi, October 2, 2023: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested Shafi Ujjama, a “most wanted” ISIS terrorist, from Delhi. Ujjama was allegedly involved in several terrorist attacks in India and abroad.
The NIA arrested Ujjama from a house in the Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi. He was living under a fake identity and was planning to carry out another terrorist attack in India, according to the NIA.
Ujjama is a native of Kerala and was allegedly recruited by ISIS in 2014. He is accused of being involved in the 2016 Pulwama attack, the 2017 Pathankot attack, and the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter Sunday bombings.
The NIA has been tracking Ujjama for several months and finally managed to arrest him. His arrest is a major blow to ISIS and its terror network in India.
The NIA has recovered a large quantity of explosives and weapons from Ujjama’s possession. The agency has also seized a number of documents and electronic devices from him.
Ujjama is being interrogated by the NIA and is expected to reveal more information about his terrorist network.
The NIA said that Ujjama was a close associate of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and was responsible for planning and executing several terror attacks in India. He was also involved in the recruitment of new members for ISIS and in raising funds for the terror group.
The Delhi Police also played a key role in Ujjama’s arrest. They provided intelligence and logistical support to the NIA.
The arrest of Ujjama is a reminder of the constant threat of terrorism in India. We must all be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
