In a surprise attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Israel, many foreigners were affected. Here’s what we know:
- Thailand: 12 Thai workers were killed, 8 were hurt, and 11 were taken as hostages.
- US: At least 11 American citizens were killed, and some may be among the hostages.
- Nepal: 10 Nepali citizens were killed, and 4 others are in the hospital. They are searching for one more person.
- Argentina: 7 Argentine nationals were killed, and 15 are missing.
- Ukraine: 2 Ukrainian women who lived in Israel were killed.
- France: 2 French citizens were killed, and 14 are missing. Some may have been kidnapped.
- Russia: At least 1 Russian was killed, and 4 are missing.
- UK: 1 British person is missing, and a British man died in the fighting.
- Canada: 1 Canadian died, and 3 are missing.
- Cambodia: 1 Cambodian student was killed.
- Germany: Several people with dual German-Israeli citizenship were kidnapped.
- Brazil: 3 dual Brazilian-Israeli citizens are missing.
- Chile: 2 Chilean nationals are missing, living near the Israel-Gaza border.
- Italy: 2 Israeli-Italian citizens are missing.
- Paraguay: 2 Paraguayan nationals living in Israel are missing.
- Peru: 2 Peruvian nationals are missing.
- Tanzania: 2 Tanzanian nationals are missing.
- Mexico: 2 Mexicans, a man, and a woman, were taken as hostages.
- Colombia: 2 Colombians at the Supernova festival are missing.
- Panama: 1 Panamanian national is missing.
- Ireland: An Irish-Israeli woman is confirmed as missing.
