Ancient 6,000-Year-Old Sandals Unearthed in Spanish Bat Cave

6,000-year-old sandals discovered in a Spanish bat cave are thought to be the oldest shoes ever discovered in Europe, according to researchers. The researchers said the 6,000-year-old sandals were woven from grass and other materials such as leather and lime, and they also found the baskets and tools in the cave, which was first accessed in 1831 by a landowner who collected the bat droppings used to make fertilizer.
