Final Date for Exchanging 2000 Rupee Notes: Ensure You’re In Time

The last date to exchange 2,000 notes at banks has been extended until October 7. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stated this in a statement today The RBI said that the Rs 2000 note will remain valid until October 7th; actually, before the extension, the deadline for the 2000 note exchange is today. The banks are stopping accepting the 2000 notes for exchange on October 8, and people have time to exchange the 2000 notes before October 7 at 19 branches of the RBI. The notes are sent by post to the RBI’s issuer offices by India Post. RBI said it has received Rs 3.42 lakh crore worth of Rs 2000 notes from a total of Rs 3.56 lakh crore in circulation as of May 19th, and this has left only Rs 0.14 lakh crore worth of Rs 2,000 notes in circulation till September 29.
