Sonia Gandhi Challenges BJP in Lok Sabha Over the women’s reservation bill

Sonia Gandhi said that speaking on the women’s reservation bill was an emotional movement for her, as her husband Rajiv Gandhi had introduced the reservation in the local bodies. Discussion of the Women’s Reservation Bill looks like a challenge between the Congress and the BJP in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The Congress’s Former Chief Minister, Sonia Gandhi, has demanded the reservation for the other backward classes and the immediate implementation of the bill.
- Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, has accused the Congress party of saying new things from a political standpoint and stated that the OBC quota will never be discussed in the context of the Reservation for Women Legislators.
- The First Speaker from the Opposition on the Women Reservation Bill, Mrs. Gandhi, said that her party supports the legislation, but the party has demanded the reservation for the other backward classes within the 33% quota for women.
- The former Congress chief said, speaking in Hindi, “On behalf of the Indian National Congress, I stand here in support of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. From smoke-filled kitchens to flood-lit stadiums, the Indian woman’s journey has been a long one. But she has finally reached her destination.”
- Mrs. Gandhi said “Speaking on this bill is an emotional moment for me because the constitutional amendment providing reservation for women in local bodies had first been tabled by my husband, Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi’s dream has only been half fulfilled so far, and it will be fulfilled with the passage of this bill.”
- The Congress Party will support the Women’s Reservation Bill, and they will have to wait two and a half years, correct? The Congress Party has demanded that the bill be implemented immediately. The caste census will be conducted, and provisions will be made for the reservation of women from the SC, ST, and OBC communities.
The delay of the Women’s Reservation Bill is doing a gross injustice to women, Mrs. Gandhi and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said that the Congress and the opposition had not tabled the bill all these years, and now they are upset because Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have shown the courage to do so. He also stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been saying it is the right time to pass the bill. We are proud of him for calling this special session to table this bill and give respect and reservation to the women of this country.
