Loss of Two Army Lives in Jammu and Kashmir Encounter Incident

Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police and a Colonel, a major Rashtriya Rifles Unit of the army, were killed in the attack by the terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir Anantnag District. Major Aashish Dhonchak, Colonel Manpreet Singh, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Himanyun Muzamil Bhat were killed in the gunfight with the terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir Anantnag District.
- Colonel Manpreet Singh is the commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles (19 RR) Unit. Rashtriya Rifles is the counter-insurgency force of the Indian Army, and it will operate in Jammu and Kashmir.
- A police officer’s dead body was retrieved in the aftermath of the heavy gunfire by terrorists in the dense forest of the Kokernag area of Anantnag.
- Director General Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh and Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Army’s 15 Corps Commander, among the top officials, are rushed to the site where the encounter happened to evacuate bodies.
- The Army Cheetah Helicopters are doing the search operation at the encounter site for the evacuation operation.
- The police officers and the army have received specific information about the presence of terrorists in the forest, and the joint operation started last night, said the sources.
Three officers were critically injured, and reinforcements were immediately rushed into the area due to the heavy firing from the terrorists. The injured officers were not evacuated immediately due to the terrorist’s heavy fires.
