2,012, people died in the Morocco earthquake
The 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco is tragic since it created a great deal of hardship for the local populace. Together with the Moroccan government, the worldwide community is assisting those affected by the earthquake. The Moroccan government has taken steps to lessen the likelihood of earthquakes. Although the government has constructed earthquake-proof buildings and created early warning systems, the nation is still at risk from these natural calamities.
- Morocco’s people have posted many videos on X, formerly Twitter, that show the buildings reduced to rubles and the dust and parts of the famous red walls that surround the old city in historic Marrakech and the UNESCO World Heritage Site also damaged.
- The Morocco earthquake has killed 2,012 people, injured 2,059, and put 1,404 in critical condition, according to the reports of the Morocco interior ministry.
- The rescue efforts are underway. Many people are stuck under the demolished buildings, and the earthquake was the deadliest in Morocco since a 1960 earthquake destroyed Agadir and killed more than 12,000 people.
- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Saturday that he was “Extremely pained by the loss of lives due to an earthquake in Morocco. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the people of Morocco. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. India is ready to offer all possible assistance to Morocco in this difficult time”.
- The Moroccan government has provided relief camps for the victims and declared a state of emergency in the affected areas. The government has allocated a huge amount for relief efforts.
