He threw a distance of 88.17 m, which is the farthest throw of the day. It was the first time the Indian athlete won the gold medal, and he created history in the 2023 World Athletics Championship. He brought pride to India, and two more Indians finished in the top 5 and 6 positions with the distances of Kishore Jena (84.77 m) and DP Manu (84.14 m).
